Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, our local small businesses are struggling to remain open or have already closed. This program is an effort to provide financial bridge assistance to help our businesses in need with a chance to remain open, and/or to bridge the time between federal assistance funding and now. In many situations, the citizens simply wish to do something in an effort to help, and this program will act as that conduit.
Questions or Assistance, Please Call
Both the Dumas EDC and Dumas Downtown Association (DDA) can accept monies for the Dumas Cares Program. All funds will be tracked by the Dumas EDC for budgetary purposes, and the Committee will make determinations on how much and whom assistance will be provided. All donations are greatly appreciated!
This program is a supplement to our existing incentive-based programs. Because of the time constraints, the program does not fulfill all the typical incentive requirements of the Dumas EDC. The purpose of this emergency assistance program is to get funds in the hands of our local small businesses as quickly as possible.
The Dumas EDC had been actively putting together an emergency response plan for local businesses. The Dumas EDC is not able to financially help every business in Dumas.
The local effort that started by Mike Hayhurst through the COVID-19 local Facebook page indicated a willingness by several of our local citizens to help our small businesses out. Because of their immediate desire to help, we have decided to launch this program as quickly as possible.
Our hope is to solicit additional funds from the various organizations in the community to add to the approved level of participation the Dumas EDC will contribute. An initial amount of funding from the Dumas EDC is anticipated to be $30,000-$50,000.
